Redesigning music fans' search experience
Fans of music have lots of resources to find information about music, artists and performances through websites like BandsinTown or SongKick. While these tools are great at providing its users with lots of information, they lack an elegant, simple solution to displaying local artists and their performances with-in a specified date range.
Is there a way to create a simple tool that empowers users while simplifying their search experience?
Key functionality to consider to simplify the current available tools:
• Displaying artist name and performance dates in an easily digestible format
• Ability to hide and remove artist to create customized view of users' music preferences while allowing for artist discovery
• Option to favorite shows and compile list of all interested shows to attend to make informed buying decisions later
A simple light weight web app that focuses on the search function to bring users the key information on artists performances called Show.me. The web app uses the open source Jambase API and JSON to display artist, venue and date in list form. The information is clearly displayed
in-line and uses a simple color system to differentiate types of information, making the most valuable information to users clearly visible.
Show.me is responsive and created with a simple color palette to avoid distractions and allow a user to focus on the information they are looking for. Users can use the more information drop down arrow to display venue and ticket buying URL. Users can favorite artists to compile a list, hide artists from view, and remove artists from being displayed.
